01
How many memories are on the list?
Count the things on the napkin. Houses, cars, schools,
pets, hobbies, jobs, concerts, vacations, signs, inside
jokes. If it's under 10, the 2-building fits. Under 18, the
3. Under 28, the 5. Over 28, go 8 — or call us and talk
about a custom.
Rule of thumb — aim to fill 70% of the cap. Leave room to breathe.
02
How many people will stand in front of it?
A nightstand piece for one person is a 2-building. A
living-room piece for a family is a 5. A lobby piece where
a hundred clients will walk past is an 8 or a custom. The
print should be legible from the distance people will
actually view it.
Rule of thumb — double viewing distance = go up one size.
03
Where is it going on the wall?
Over the mantle, over the couch, over the new desk in the
den. The 5-building is the one that reads as "piece of art"
over a 6-foot sofa. The 2 and 3 work on gallery walls, in
hallways, on bookshelves. The custom is for the blank
fifteen-foot wall in the lobby.
Rule of thumb — the print should be ⅔ the width of the furniture below it.
